Marion Kathryn McKendree

McKendreeMarion Kathryn McKendree, of Village Lane in Brookville PA, died Tuesday, December 8, 2015 at UPMC in Pittsburgh, surrounded by her family.

Marion was born in Oliver Twp., on January 7, 1932. She was the daughter of the late Charles and Emma (Himes) Burkett. On November 30, 1950, Marion married Clair F. Burns. Then on May 19, 1990, she was married to Clair W. McKendree, who preceded her in death on September 6, 2008.

Marion worked at Sylvania in Brookville. She was a homemaker for most of her life. Her family and friends were her life. Marion enjoyed bowling, traveling, shopping and going to the Heritage House with her friends. Marion had many
leadership roles in the Stanton United Methodist Church. When she moved to Brookville, she became a member of the Evangelical United Methodist Church.

She is survived by 1 son, Michael C. (Rita) Burns of Brookville PA; 2 daughters, Christina (Jon) Orris of Brookville and Lorraine (Ron) Taylor of Belle Vernon; 1 step-son, Kenneth (Linda) McKendree of Fairfax, VA; 1 step-daughter, Barbara (Gary)
Beck of Treasure Lake, PA; 8 grandchildren, 7 step-grandchildren, 7 great-grandchildren and 11 step-great-grandchildren. Also surviving are 2 brothers; Nelson Burkett of Brookville and Kenneth (Cathy) Burkett of Findley, NY; 3 sisters, Agnes Burns of Brookville, Isabelle Hetrick of Brookville, and Elva “Deetse” (Lynn) Crosswaite of Reynoldsville.

In addition to her parents, Marion was preceded in death by her infant daughter, Sylvia Jean Burns; 2 brothers, Elvin Burkett and Albert Burkett; and 1 sister, Alvera Burns.

Family and friends will be received from 2-4 and 6-8pm on Friday, December 11, 2015, at the McKinney – d’Argy Funeral Home, 345 Main St., Brookville, PA, 15825.

On Saturday, December 12, 2015, another visitation will take place from 12noon – 1pm, at the Evangelical United Methodist Church, 30 White St., Brookville, PA, 15825.

A funeral service will immediately follow the visitation at the church, beginning at 1pm, with the Rev. Chuck Jack officiating. Interment will take place at Coolspring Cemetery in Oliver Twp., Jefferson Co. Memorial contributions may be
made in her name to the Stanton United Methodist Church, 189 Stanton Rd., Brookville, PA, 15825, or to the Evangelical United Methodist Church, 30 White St., Brookville, PA, 15825.
