Mark Alan VanNorman

Mark Alan VanNorman, age 60, of Richardsville PA, passed away unexpectedly and from natural causes on Saturday February 4, 2017, at the Penn Highlands DuBois Hospital.

Mark was born on November 16, 1956, to Arden and Fay (Kelley) VanNorman, in New Kensington, PA; Arden survives him, Fay has preceded him in passing.

Mark attended the York County School of Technology, and after his time spent there, he honorably served his country as a member of the United States Marine Corp.

On October 25, 2007, Mark married Suzi Rae (Sloan) VanNorman, at their home in Richardsville, PA; Suzi survives him.

Mark worked for the local glass plant until his retirement.

He owned and operated “The Gun Shop”, which dealt in the distribution of firearms and ammunition.

Mark wanted to keep things simple like the name of his shop portrays.

One of his favorite pass times was target shooting with Suzi. They spent thousands of rounds building their relationship this way.

He loved to hunt, especially bear hunting; one of his favorite stories to tell was how he got his Bear skin rug.

He volunteered time working with the Wounded Warrior Project and he was also a member of the Brockway Hand Gunners.

Mark loved all of his 8 dogs, 8 cats, 2 parrots, and his horses; especially his horse Jessie.

Jessie was very patient with Mark and the struggles he had in simply riding; he had a special bond with Mark.

More than anything else, Mark loved his grandkids and he looked forward to teaching them new things, like riding four wheelers. Mark loved being a part of the day to day with his family and pets; he did so much to keep everything running and although he will be missed, his memory will be cherished forever.

In addition to his wife and father, Mark is survived by, 2 sons; Tim (Kendara) VanNorman, Jeff (Yuka) VanNorman; 1 step-daughter; Krystal (Kevin Frantz) Spicer; 1 sister; Kelly (Ralph) Hindman; and 2 grandchildren; Vincent VanNorman and Hunter Spicer.

In addition to his mother, Mark is preceded in death by 1 brother; Tim VanNorman.

Family and friends will be received on Friday, February 10, 2017, from 6 – 8pm, at the McKinney – d’Argy Funeral Home, ltd, 345 Main St., Brookville, PA, 15825.

His family will hold private funeral services and interment at a later date.
