Martha June Calabrese

Martha CalabreseMartha June Calabrese, 84, of Punxsutawney , died Wednesday, March 22, 2017 at Punxsutawney Area Hospital.

She was born on June 26, 1932 in Indiana County, Banks Twp., a daughter of the late Milton Pearce and Allean (Keener) Pearce.

Martha was a member of SS Cosmas & Damian Church.

On December 7, 1950 she married Frank Calabrese. He preceded her in death in February 1989.

Martha was a very hard worker. She was employed by Prammco Sportswear and later cared for the elderly through their final days.

In her spare time, Martha enjoyed cooking and family meals. She was an avid reader. Her biggest enjoyment was spending time with her family. Martha devoted her life to not only caring for her family, but caring for everyone around her. She was loving known as everyone’s “Baba”

She is survived by two daughters, Mary Palmer and husband Tom of Punxsutawney; and Jodee James-Jenkins and husband Danny of Greensburg; six grandchildren, Erin Calabrese; Amy Guidash; Brittany James; Brock James; Tanner James and Darin James; three great-grandchildren, Meadow Guidash; Harper Guidash; Brycen Wadsworth; two brothers, Thomas Pearce of Mahaffey; and Norman Richard “Dick”Pearce and wife Lois of Burnside; and a sister, Della Trimble.

Martha was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, two sons, Frank Thomas Calabrese; and Father Wiliam Calabrese; and five brothers, Joseph, Charles, Ray, Ralph, and Leonard Pearce.

Friends were received from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. on Friday, March 24, 2017 at the Shumaker Funeral Home, Inc. In Punxsutawney.

A funeral mass will be held at SS Codmas & Damian Church on Saturday, March 25, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. celebrated by Monsignor Joseph Riccardo.

In leiu of flowers, donations may be made in Martha’s memory to St. Judes Childrens Hospital.
