Matson Announces Candidacy for County Commissioner

Jack Matson CommissionerBROOKVILLE, Pa. ” John “Jack” Matson has released a statement declaring his intention to run for Jefferson County Commissioner in the upcoming elections.

His statement is as follows:

I am a 9th generation Jefferson County resident. I have been fortunate in my career to travel the world for business. There is no place that I have found that compares to our area.

We are hard working, generous, neighborly people that look out for one another. We have coal, natural gas, and timber reserves that are the envy of others. We have direct access to global markets via highway, rail, and air. We have clean water, rolling hills, and four distinct seasons.

The architecture and character of our downtown areas have a magical quality.

We have great churches and civic organizations that are always there when one of us needs help. We have entrepreneurs that have built and grown unique and diverse businesses. These businesses have protected our region from major economic swings that have plagued single industry areas.

We have a workforce that is unparalleled globally. We take pride in the jobs that we do, offer unique solutions when problems arise, work together for common goals, and learn new skills when given the opportunity.

Our school systems are solid and consistently develop and educate great young men and women.

I believe that Jefferson County is a great place to live and work, and I also believe that there is always room for improvement. I believe that the Jefferson County Commissioner’s job is to create an environment that allows our current manufacturing and service companies to grow and prosper. I also believe that all of the region’s assets need to be marketed in an effort to attract outside business and industry and make them feel welcome and supported in our home.

Our current Commissioners and County Officials have developed and built a solid framework to make the task of enhancing Jefferson County easier, but the job will not be easy.

It will take a tremendous amount of hard work, coordination, and cooperation.

I know that we will handle this challenge with grit, determination, and smiles.

It is what we do, and who we are. I know that I will give you my best in my effort to keep Jefferson County great. I know that I will utilize all of my abilities and draw from my experience and contacts to make Jefferson County better.

I look forward to meeting you while I’m campaigning door to door. When you see me, please share your thoughts and ideas for improving Jefferson County.
