Matthew L. Marasco, Jr., age 79, of DuBois, PA, passed away on Friday, November 18, 2022 at his home.
Born on January 8, 1943 in Ridgway, PA, he was the son of the late Matthew L. & Natalie M. (Martino) Marasco, Sr.
He was married to Rose Ann (Aiello) Marasco.
She preceded him in death on May 9, 1989.
Matt was a veteran of the United States Army Reserves.
Matt retired from the United States Postal Service after a 48-year career.
He was the friendly face behind the counter with an infectious smile and a twinkle in his eye.
He was also a licensed barber in the state of Pennsylvania for over 60 years.
He especially enjoyed cutting hair for the residents of Christ the King Manor and the DuBois Nursing Home, a Marasco family trade brought over from Italy by his father Matt Marasco Sr.
Matt was a champion bowler at DuBois Lanes and enjoyed hunting.
Above all, he loved to spend time with his family, especially at his hunting camp.
He was known by some as “The Silver Fox”, “Dad” to many, and “The Godfather”.
He was known by all as a hilarious storyteller and the most personable guy you might ever have had the privilege to meet.
He is survived by his feline son, Ebony; his human children, Matthew Marasco (and wife Marlo) of Oakdale, PA, and daughter, Nicole Roberts (and husband Brad) of Richmond, VA; grandchildren Lyla Rose Marasco, Vincent Matthew Marasco, Blaine Roberts, and Madison Roberts; a brother, Michael Marasco, of Erie, PA; three sisters, Mary Lou Keneske, (and her husband William) and Consie Frank, both of Johnsonburg, PA, and Christine Mitskavich of DuBois, PA; and his longtime lady friend Rose Smith and her family, Paul, Judy, Susan, Mike and Kendall who were very special to Matt.
Visitation will be held on Friday, November 25, 2022 from 2-4 & 6-8 p.m. at the Baronick Funeral Home & Crematorium, Inc.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, November 26, 2022 at 10 a.m. from St. Michael the Archangel Roman Catholic Church with Msgr. Richard Siefer as celebrant.
Burial will follow in Morningside Cemetery.
Memorials may be placed with the charity of the donor’s choice in the DuBois area.
