Maxine Kay Munger

Maxine Kay Munger, 79, of Punxsutawney, passed away October 26, 2023, at her home.

She was born on December 1, 1943, in Warren, OH, the daughter of the late Ernest Frederick Cribley and Ila Naomi (Booth) Cribley.

On July 29, 1961, she married the love of her life, Howard Richard “Mac” Munger, who preceded her in death on July 16, 2015.

Maxine loved and missed her husband dearly.

Her biggest job in life was being a great mom, grandma, friend, and neighbor anyone could ever ask for.

She loved people and people loved her in return.

Retired, Maxine worked as a nurse’s aide at Christ the King Manor in Dubois for ten years, Rola Jensen in DuBois and the Pantal Hotel.

Maxine enjoyed singing, sewing, making doll clothes and crafts.

She also loved to garden and seasonally decorating her home.

She will be remembered for her sweet and sassy personality, her quick wit humor, infectious giggle, her uplifting spirit and her smile.

Her goal was to make everyone she met smile, no one was ever a stranger to her for long.

Maxine is survived by her five children: Howard Richard “Richie” Munger Jr., of Dothan, AL, Robin Lynn (Richard) Liddle of Southington, OH, Dale Munger of Southington, OH, Heidi (Larry) Hall of Dunnellon, Florida, Eric (Becky) Munger of Punxsutawney; fourteen grandchildren and twenty great grandchildren and three great great-grandchild; two brothers: Dean (Nancy) Cribley of North Jackson, OH and Darwin (Gloria) Cribley of Diamond, OH; and a sister, Betty Rogers of Newton, NC.

In addition to her parents and husband, Maxine was preceded in death by eight siblings: Devan Cribley, Donnie Cribley, Janet Stamm, Roger Cribley, Coleen Marshall, Dallas Cribley, Duane Cribley and Dale Cribley.

A Celebration of Life will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, October 31, 2023, at Shumaker Funeral Home, Inc., Punxsutawney.

Friends will be received from 10 a.m. until the time of service.

Her ashes will be in Lakelawn Memorial Park.

The family would like to thank all of Maxine’s caregivers that she has had over the years.
