Chainsaw Carvers’ Roundup & Auction

Friday & Saturday 10 a.m. – 5 p.m. (Auction 4 p.m.) Sunday 10 a.m. – 4 p.m. (Auction 3:30 p.m.) Featuring amazing demonstrations as the chainsaw artists display their talents. Watch as life-like animals, caricatures, plants, furniture pieces and more appear from a “simple” log. Products available for sale from the artists or attend the auction on both Saturday and Sunday to bid on these wonderfully crafted pieces. Vendors and artists of other mediums also on site. 16 Years at Consol Program with Bob Oshnock

When: Friday, September 15, 2017, 7:00 p.m. – 9:00 p.m.
Where: Heritage House, 4 Sylvania Street, Brookville, Pa.

Bob Oshnock is a Field Associate with the Carnegie Museum in Pittsburgh. His latest endeavor has devoted most of the past two decades directing the total excavation of two prehistoric Native American villages at the Consol site 36Wm100 in Westmoreland County Pennsylvania with the assistance of members of Chapter 23 of the Society for Pennsylvania Archaeology. Bob’s program will be presented at the Friday, meeting of the North Fork Chapter 29 of the Society for Pennsylvania Archaeology. The program is free and open to the public. Coolspring Power Museum Open Day

When: Saturday, September 16, 2017, 7:00 a.m. – 8:00 p.m.
Where: Coolspring Power Museum, 179 Coolspring Road, Coolspring, Pa.
Details:
You will see the largest collection of historically significant, early stationary gas engines in the United States, if not the world. Most of the museum’s acquisitioning have been focused on collecting important large stationary engines that most likely would be scrapped if the museum did not acquire them. Open to the public. Bike MS: Cook Forest River Ride

When: Saturday, September 16, 2017, 8:00 a.m.
Where: Cook Forest State Park, River Road, Cooksburg, Pa.
Details:
There is a 35- or 60-mile route option. The 60-mile ride begins at 8:00 a.m. and the 35-mile ride starts at 9:00 a.m. It begins and ends at Cook Forest State Park. The registration fee is $50.00. Participants must be at least 12 years of age. To make your ride a safe and memorable one, the Bike MS: Cook Forest River Ride is fully supported with SAG vehicles, bike mechanics, and rest stops. After the ride, all registered cyclists are welcome to celebrate and enjoy great food and festivities at the Finish Line Celebration.

Punxsy Dash for Diabetes 5K Run/1 Mile Walk/1 Mile Obstacle Dash

When: Saturday, September 16, 2017, 10:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m.
Where: Punxsy Skate Park, 307 Elk Street, Punxsutawney, Pa.
Details:
5K run, 1 mile walk and 1 mile obstacle dash. “Fighting to Cure Diabetes” tours the scenic Mahoning Shadow Trail in Punxsutawney. Participants pre-registered receive a t-shirt.
