Mildred “Mike” Irene (Keller) Mohney

Mildred “Mike” Irene (Keller) Mohney, 86, passed away peacefully on Thursday, May 17, 2018, at West Penn Hospital in Pittsburgh, PA.

Mildred was born on July 4, 1931, in Winslow Township, PA, to the late Charles and Hetty (Pifer) Keller. She graduated with the Class of 1950, from Reynoldsville High School. She served as her class secretary for all four years of school.

Mildred was married to James A. Mohney. After sixty-four years of marriage, James preceded her in passing on August 6, 2017. While James was out working on the railroad in 1955, he mailed her a Valentine card using a three-cent stamp, and from that year until his passing in 2017, the card was reused each Valentine’s day.

Mildred worked as a sales clerk for the Economy and Fields Department Store as well as Cameron Manufacturing in Reynoldsville, PA. She was also the Reynoldsville Community Blood chairman for many years. For thirty-six years she worked with the Reynoldsville Ambulance Service; for many of those years she served as treasurer. She was very active in organizing and running banquets each year for the Alumni of Reynoldsville High School.

She was a member of the Trinity Lutheran Church in Reynoldsville, PA.

Mildred would faithfully have a Sunday dinner with her family and never skimped on a single meal because she was always such a thorough cook. She made every meal from scratch, and even when her boys left home she continued to do the same for her husband. She was naturally social and outgoing, which made it easy for her to meet new people and she was a great conversationalist. Mildred was especially social with her friends and family and they meant so much to her.

She is survived by two sons, Carl Mohney of Roanoke, VA, and Keith (Barbara) Mohney of Punxsutawney, PA; three grandchildren, Kyle, Keaton, and Kaston Mohney; one brother, Paul Keller of Reynoldsville, PA; and one sister, Dorothy Kuntz of Reynoldsville, PA.

In addition to her parents and husband, Mildred is preceded in death by one grandson, Tanner Mohney.

Mildred’s funeral services will be held privately and at her family’s convenience.

Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to the Snyder – d’Argy Funeral Home, 206 E. Main St., Reynoldsville, PA.

Interment will take place at Lakelawn Memorial Park, Winslow Township, Jefferson County, PA.

Memorial contributions may be made in her name to the Reynoldsville Ambulance Service, P.O. Box 247 Reynoldsville, PA, 15851.
