NCAA Releases Brackets for Division I Championships

INDIANAPOLIS, IN — Cam Pine learned the identity of his first round opponent at next week’s NCAA Division I Wrestling Championships, as the NCAA released the full brackets for the event set for next week at the T-Mobile Center in Kansas City, Mo.

Pine, a Mid-American Conference (MAC) finalist at 184 pounds, is seeded 27th in the bracket. He will face Penn State’s sixth-seeded Bernie Truax in the first round of the championship.

The winner of that match will face either Missouri’s 11th-seeded Colton Hawks, or North Carolina’s 22nd-seeded Gavin Kane.

Pine has won 14 of his last 16 matches this season and currently holds a 23-6 record. The hot streak that started at the Southern Scuffle at the start of the 2024 calendar year carried all the way into last week’s conference championship, where he won his first two matches before falling to George Mason’s Malachi DuVall in the final.

Action will kick off at the NCAA Championships on Thursday, March 20, at the T-Mobile Center with the first round of action.

The second round of the championship bracket as well as the first round of the consolation bracket will follow on Thursday evening.
