PA Fines Gas Company for Improper Pipeline in Jefferson County

JEFFERSON CO., Pa. (EYT) — The state Department of Environmental Protection has fined CNX Gas Company and CONE Midstream Partners for improperly constructing pipelines, including one in Jefferson County.

The line in Jefferson County is the Big Run well line located in Gaskill Township. It is owned by CNX.

It was in violation because CNX didn’t follow the path that was established in the permit.

Twenty pipelines owned by CNX and seven CONE lines were found to be not in compliance.

The other lines were in Indiana, Greene, and Washington counties.

For the violations of the state’s Clean Streams Law and Oil and Gas Act, CNX was fined $139,000.00 and CONE $45,000.00.

CNX and CONE have until November 15 to complete a review of their pipelines.
