Penn State Hosting Pitt in Baseball Tuesday

UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. (EYT) – Pitt and Penn State will meet on the baseball field at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday at Medlar Field at Lubrano Park at Penn State.

Penn State (15-12) is coming off a three-game sweep of Purdue in Big 10 Play. The Nittany Lions have won six in a row.

Pitt lost two of three at No. 14 Clemson over the weekend in ACC action. The losses dropped the Panthers record to 13-11.

It’s the 89th all-time meeting between the schools and the first at Penn State since 2012. The Nittany Lions lead the series 63-25-1 although Pitt has won two of the last three meetings taking a 5-3 victory in 2012 and 10-8 in 2013 before losing 6-1 in 12 innings last year.

Penn State is led by third baseman Jim Haley, who is hitting .340 with a .519 slugging percentage. The junior has 12 extra base hits with two home runs and has scored 23 runs.

Pitt is paced by the ACC Player of the Week, Charles Leblanc, who is hitting .291 with three home runs and 30 RBIs. Last week, Leblanc was 9 of 13 with nine RBIs.
