PIAA Reveals Soccer Brackets; DuBois, Brockway Boys and Girls in Action


MECHANICSBURG, Pa. (D9Sports) – The PIAA revealed its 2017 soccer playoff brackets Sunday with eight District 9 teams involved in the state championship.

BOYS’ CLASS 1A

District 9 champion Brockway and District 9 runner-up Port Allegany are involved in the Class 1A field with Brockway taking on WPIAL third-place finisher Seton LaSalle at 6 p.m. Tuesday at DuBois High School and Port Allegany facing WPIAL champion Cardinal Wuerl North Catholic at 6 p.m. Tuesday at Moon Area High School.

GIRLS’ CLASS 1A

In girls’ Class 1A, District 9 champion Ridgway and District 9 runner-up Brockway both play Tuesday with Ridgway taking on WPIAL third-place finisher Cardinal Wuerl North Catholic at 5 p.m. at Brockway High School and Brockway facing WPIAL champion Greensburg Central Catholic at 8 p.m. at Moon Area High School.

BOYS’ CLASS 2A

The boys’ Class 2A bracket features District 9 champion St. Marys taking on WPIAL runner-up Quaker Valley at 7 p.m. Tuesday at Brockway High School. The Dutch are the lone D9 team in the bracket.

GIRLS’ CLASS 2A

One District 9 team is involved in the girls’ Class 2A tournament with District 9 champion Karns City taking on WPIAL runner-up Freedom at 6 p.m. Tuesday at Clarion University’s Memorial Stadium.

BOYS’ CLASS 3A

In boys’ Class 3A, District 9 champion DuBois won a sub-regional game over Somerset to qualify for the bracket. The Beavers will take on WPIAL runner-up West Allegheny at 7 p.m. Tuesday at Clearfield High School. DuBois is the lone D9 team in the bracket.
