Manguiat, a graduate of San Ramon Valley High School in Danville, Calif., brings a wealth of coaching experience to the Panthers. His most recent experience includes serving as a coach at the Diablo Valley Volleyball Club in Walnut Creek, Calif., where he also played growing up. He has been a head coach at Diablo Valley since 2010, instructing both boys and girls teams throughout his time there.

“Peter is a very motivated young man and we are really fortunate to have somebody of his age and with his experience helping us out this season,” said Fisher. “We’re excited for him to get here and begin working with the team.”

The west coast native is also a former standout student-athlete after concluding a successful career at Springfield College in Springfield, Mass. Manguiat played on the men’s varsity volleyball team from 2007-10, winning two NCAA Division III National Championships in 2008 and 2010. He also holds the school record for serve reception percentage.

Pitt opens its season at the Kennesaw State Invitational, Aug. 26-27, where the Panthers will take on Liberty, Missouri and host Kennesaw.
