Arielle Fernandez and Sarah Krause tallied the goals for Pitt as senior goalie Taylor Francis earned the save in the three 30-minute periods.

The game remained scoreless through the first period, as Ohio State closed out the first 30 minutes of action with two good chances in the left corner of the cage as the Panthers came up with a block and a Francis save to hold the Buckeyes off the scoresheet.

Pitt got on the board first in the second period as Fernandez took a pass from Bel Van Noorden and tucked the ball into the top left corner of the net.

The Panthers would add an insurance goal just minutes later as Krause converted on a free kick on the left side, giving the home team a 2-0 advantage.

The third period remained quiet as neither team would score again and Pitt walked away with a 2-0 decision.

Earning the win, Francis made four saves on four shots on goal, as Ohio State registered eight total shots. Pitt wrapped the contest up with seven shots, six on goal, forcing the Buckeye goalie to make four saves.

The win was the first of two preseason games for the Panthers as they will travel to Lexington, KY, on Aug. 13 for a 7 p.m. meeting with Kentucky.
