Player Profile: Olivia Boocks, A-C Valley


D9Sports.com and EYT Media are doing a series of player profiles on returning high-school athletes this summer. The year in school listed by the athlete is the year the athlete is entering this fall.

OLIVIA BOOCKS – JUNIOR – A-C Valley

Daughter of: Trisha Boocks and Rob Foust

Sports Played: Volleyball, Basketball, Track & Field

2016-17 Highlights: Olivia was the starting point guard for the A-C Valley girls’ basketball team and helped lead the Lady Falcons to a third-place finish in District 9 and a PIAA playoff berth by averaging 11.8 points, 3.5 assists and 2.4 steals per game. In volleyball, she helped A-C Valley to a second-place District 9 finish and the PIAA playoffs as one of the key hitters on the team, and in track & field she helped a pair of Lady Falcons relay teams to top-five finishes (4th in the 4×400/5th in the 4×100) while also finishing 13th in the 100-meter dash (13.65).

Post-High School Goals: Olivia plans on attending college and hopes to play sports when she gets there.

Q&A With Olivia Boocks

D9Sports: What is your favorite sport to participate in?
OB: It’s a tough choice between basketball and volleyball.

D9: What is your favorite memory, moment, game from playing high school sports?
OB: My favorite memory was playing basketball at CUP. My favorite moment was when I realized I got fouled during the North Clarion basketball game when we were tied (She sank the free-throw with no time left to win the game). My favorite game was the Clarion volleyball game at Districts.

D9: Why do you play high school sports?
OB: I play high school sports because I love the bond that it creates between everyone and all of the memories I make.

D9: Is there a high school player on your team or another team that you enjoy watching play? If so, why?
OB: I enjoy watching Tori Obenrader (North Clarion) play because she’s an amazing basketball player that can really do anything.

D9: When not playing sports I would rather (pick one) – Go to work, play video games, shop, hang out with friends, play pickup sports, go the movies
OB: Hang out with friends.

D9: If you could go anywhere in the world, where would it be and why?
OB: I would go to Australia because all of the animals they have there.

D9: Who has had the most influence on you as a person?
OB: Rob, my stepdad, has had the most influence on me as a person because he is always pushing me to be a better person and make good choices.

D9: What do you like most about growing up in your hometown?
OB: I like that everyone knows everyone and it is easy to find your way around.

D9: What do you wish you could change about growing up in your hometown?
OB: I wish that there was more to do around my hometown in my free time.

D9: What question do you wish I would have asked you? And what is the answer to it?
OB: One question I wish you would’ve asked me is how I think our team is going to do this year in basketball. I believe our team is going to go far because we did not lose any seniors.

D9: Do you or have you had any siblings or other immediate relatives who have played high school sports?
OB: My sister, Kelsey, played sports throughout her high school career.
