Police: Driver Arrested for DUI After Nearly Hitting Ambulance

BROOKVILLE BOROUGH, Pa. (EYT) – Police say a driver was arrested for DUI on Tuesday after nearly striking an ambulance.

Punxsutawney-based State Police say around 12:10 a.m. on Tuesday, September 15, an ambulance was traveling south on State Route 28 in Brookville Borough, Jefferson County, following a red 2008 Chevrolet Impala, when the Impala pulled halfway off the road.

According to police, when the ambulance attempted to go around the Impala, the Impala “took off” toward the ambulance, then swerved back onto the roadway, narrowly missing the ambulance.

Police say a vehicle matching the description of the Impala involved in the incident was then spotted at the Sheetz in Brookville. When questioned, the driver of the vehicle admitted to traveling on Route 28 south at the approximate time of the incident.

The driver, identified only as a 41-year-old Sarver man, was subsequently arrested for driving under the influence of a controlled substance.
