UNION TOWNSHIP, Pa. (EYT) – According to Punxsutawney-based State Police, sometime between 11:40 p.m. and 11:50 p.m. on July 5, an incident involving theft and criminal mischief occurred at residences along Winters Road, in Union Township, Jefferson County.
Police say two known males, ages 18 and 20, smashed a mailbox owned by a 50-year-old Brookville man and stole the mailbox from the post.
According to police, the two males also smashed a mailbox of a 65-year-old Brookville man, but left that mailbox in place.
The two males were stopped by the Brookville Police Department who initiated an investigation and found the mailbox in the back of their vehicle, police say.
After speaking to both victims, both requested that prosecution be declined as both males made arrangements to replaced the damaged mailboxes personally, according to police.
