Police Investigating Fire in Punxsutawney; Damage Estimated at $50,000

state_policePUNXSUTAWNEY, Pa. (EYT) – Punxsutawney-based State Police are investigating the cause and origin of a fire that occurred on Perry Street in Punxsutawney Borough, Jefferson County.

Police have determined that the fire at 115 Perry Street originated on an outside porch around 12:30 a.m. on August 7, 2015.

The fire then progressed up through the ceiling of the porch and into the roof structure of the porch and residence, according to police.

Police have estimated the value of the damage to be approximately $50,000.

The fire was ruled accidental in nature by police.

The investigation is continuing.
