Police Investigating Hit-and-Run Crash Involving Driver With Suspended License

WASHINGTON TWP., Pa. (EYT) – DuBois-based State Police are investigating a hit-and-run crash that occurred early Sunday morning involving a driver who was allegedly driving with a suspended license.

According to police, around 1:20 a.m. on Sunday, March 7, a hit-and-run crash occurred on Kyle Run Road just east of Stevenson Hill Road in Washington Township, Jefferson County.

Police say the accident involved 38-year-old Robert J. Steele, of Brockport.

According to police, Steele was operating a 2002 Subaru Forester, traveling east on Kyle Run Road, negotiating a left curve when he crossed over into the westbound lane, continued off the roadway, and struck a utility pole along the edge of a small bank with the driver’s door of the vehicle. The vehicle then turned approximately 180 degrees and came to rest on the westbound lane beside the utility pole, facing west.

Steele suffered suspected minor injuries.

Police say Steele left the scene and did not report the crash.

According to police, Steele’s driver’s license is suspended due to a DUI-related suspension. Charges against Steele related to the crash are pending further investigation.

The vehicle sustained disabling damage.

The vehicle was towed from the scene by Zimmerman Towing.
