Police Investigating Multiple Incidents of Identity Theft

JEFFERSON/CLEARFIELD CO., Pa. (EYT) Area state police recently responded to multiple incidents of identify theft.

Reynoldsville Woman Scammed Out of $990.00

State Police in DuBois have released the details of an incident identity theft in Reynoldsville Borough, Jefferson County.

Police say a known 73-year-old Reynoldsville woman was scammed out of $990.00.

According to police, the victim received a message on Facebook from an unknown actor(s) stating she had won $90,000.00 and was requested to send Visa Gift Cards to the account prior to claiming the money.

The investigation is ongoing.

PSP DuBois responded to a residence along Allens Mills Road, in Warsaw Township, Jefferson County, in response to an identity theft to open a checking account around 7:00 a.m. on Tuesday, July 12.

The victims are listed as a 71-year-old man and a 64-year-old woman, both of Reynoldsville.

The investigation continues.

Identity Theft in Woodward Township

Police have released information regarding an identity theft in Woodward Township, Clearfield County.

According to Clearfield-based State Police, unknown suspect(s) proceeded to take a known victim’s identity in an unemployment scam around 12:32 a.m. on Monday, July 11.

The victim is listed as a 57-year-old Houtzdale man.
