Police Release Details of Crash That Closed Interstate 80 Westbound

UNION TWP., Pa. (EYT) – Police have released the details of a multi-vehicle crash that closed both lanes of Interstate 80 westbound in Union Township on Tuesday morning.

According to Punxsutawney-based State Police, the accident happened around 7:50 a.m. on February 9, Interstate 80 near the 103.5-mile marker, in Union Township, Clearfield County.

Police say the driver of a 2018 Freightliner truck was traveling westbound when he/she lost control. The truck then jackknifed sideways, blocking both lanes of Interstate 80 westbound. The driver of a 2020 PTB truck then attempted to avoid the first truck but still struck the rear end of the truck as well as a section of the guide rail. A 2018 Chevrolet Impala then struck the side of the first truck, as well.

No injuries were reported.

Both lanes of Interstate 80 were closed for a time due to the crash.

The names of the drivers involved in the crash were not released.
