Police Release Details of Two-Vehicle Crash on Route 219

SNYDER TWP., Pa. (EYT) – State police have released the details of a two-vehicle crash that occurred on State Route 219 on Friday morning.

According to DuBois-based State Police, the accident happened around 8:57 a.m. on Friday, May 21, on State Route 219 just west of Mooney Drive, in Snyder Township, Jefferson County.

Police say 61-year-old David A. Greathouse, of Stow, Ohio, was operating a 2020 Freightliner truck and was stopped on State Route 219 at a flashing red signal at a railroad crossing when his vehicle was struck from behind by a 2016 International Harvester truck operated by 50-year-old Eric V. Mencer, of Wheeling, West Virginia.

According to police, following the initial impact, both vehicles came to a final rest facing south in the southern lane of travel.

Both drivers were using seat belts, and no injuries were reported.

Mencer’s vehicle sustained heavy front-end damage and was towed from the scene by McCool’s Towing.

Brockway Fire Department also assisted at the scene.

Mencer was cited for following too closely.
