Police Respond to Chain Reaction Crash in Perry Township

PERRY TWP., Pa. (EYT) – Police responded to a chain-reaction crash that occurred late Friday afternoon in Perry Township.

According to Punxsutawney-based State Police, the accident occurred around 5:03 p.m. on October 16, on State Route 536 at its intersection with Frostburgh Road, in Perry Township, Jefferson County.

Police say a 2007 Volkswagen Bug, operated by a known 17-year-old male from Punxsutawney, struck the rear of a 2015 Dodge Dart, operated by another known 17-year-old male from Punxsutawney, causing the Dodge to struck the rear of a 2009 Nissan Murano, operated by 54-year-old Anna M. Hill, of Punxsutawney.

The Volkswagen continued approximately 50 feet and came to a final rest on the north berm of the roadway, the Dodge continued traveling approximately 100 feet and came to a final rest on the north berm of the roadway, and the Nissan made a left turn onto Frostburgh Road and traveled south approximately 200 feet before coming to a final rest at a pull-off on the east of the roadway.

All three drivers and a passenger in the Volkswagen, identified as a known 16-year-old male from Punxsutawney, were using seat belts.

No injures were reported.

The 17-year-old driver of the Volkswagen was cited for following too closely.
