Police Seek Information on Hit and Run Crash on Route 322

UNION TOWNSHIP, Pa. (EYT) – According to Punxsutawney-based State Police, around 3:00 p.m. on June 29, a hit-and-run accident occurred on State Route 322, at its intersection with Haugh Hollow Road, in Union Township, Jefferson County.

Police say 24-year-old Amber L. McCullough, of Rimersburg, was stopped on SR 322 in a 2005 Mercury Mountaineer waiting for another vehicle to turn left onto Haugh Hollow Road. A Pontiac approached the intersection traveling west and failed to realize that traffic was stopped on the roadway.

The unidentified operator of the Pontiac braked to avoid hitting the Mercury, but was unsuccessful. As a result, the front driver’s side of the Pontiac impacted the rear passenger side of the Mercury, according to police.

The operator of the Pontiac fled the scene without exchanging any information or identifying himself, police say.

McCullough and passengers, 41-year-old David B. McCullough a 3-year-old male, and a 2-year-old male, all of Rimersburg, were uninjured.

Damage to the Mercury was minimal.

The Pontiac is described as a white Pontiac sedan, possibly a Grand Am. It was last observed on Country Club Road traveling towards Mendenhall Road. The car will be missing the driver’s side headlight as it became dislodged at the scene.
