Police Seek Information on Hit and Run Crash on Route 36

BARNETT TOWNSHIP, Pa. (EYT) – Marienville-based State Police say around 10:36 p.m. on May 15, a hit-and-run accident occurred on State Route 36, south of Songer Road, in Barnett Township, Jefferson County.

According to police, a GM vehicle was traveling south on SR 36, and for unknown reasons, traveled off the west berm of the roadway, continuing along the berm. The right side mirror of the vehicle impacted a utility pole and then continued south, impacting a culvert, going slightly airborne.

The vehicle continued south completely off the west side of SR 36 through a private yard for approximately 141′ before impacting another utility pole head-on, shearing the pole off. The vehicle then continued in a south direction through the yard for approximately 120′ impacting another culvert, and then continued south leaving the scene, police say.

According to police, the vehicle is a gold/pewter-colored GM vehicle missing a right side running board, mirror, and passenger window. It should also have heavy front-end damage.
