Potter Baseball Tour Makes Clearfield Stop July 2-3

CLEARFIELD, Pa. – The Potter Baseball Tour is making its annual stop in Clearfield on Monday and Tuesday, July 2 and 3.

“As usual, they will be involved in several baseball and community service activities during their visit,” Clearfield baseball coach Sid Lansberry said.

On Monday evening, July 2, the Potter team will match up with our own Jims Sports Center VFW team for a good, old-fashioned wood-bat game at the Lawrence Township Rec Park. Game time is at 5:30 p.m. with opening ceremonies beginning at 5 p.m. Following the game both teams will be treated to dinner at the St Charles Cafe in downtown Clearfield.

At 12:30 p.m. on Tuesday, July 3, the Annual Charity Homerun Derby will take place at Kurtz Field in the Clearfield Little League Complex. Participants will be divided up into five age groups (8U,10U,12U,14U, and 15 and up (no age limit in this category). Registration will take place from Noon until 12:30 p.m. at the field. A donation of $2.00 will be requested at registration.

The Derby will begin at approximately 12:30 p.m. and prizes will be awarded to the top three finishers in each age group.

All proceeds from the Derby and the Potter visit will benefit the “Kitchen of Care”, sponsored by the West Side Methodist Church or the Soup Kitchen sponsored by the Trinity Methodist Church. The Little League concession stand will be open throughout the afternoon.

The Derby and Potter game are being held in conjunction with the CRC’s “Jam Out Against Hunger” Battle of the Bands being held at the Riverwalk Amphitheatre from 5:00 p.m. until -10:00 p.m. Tuesday, July. The Shaw Public Library and the Potter Tour are teaming up to provide this evening of music by four local bands: The Brothers Maines, Twin Reverb, Temptation Alley and Hell Bent. A $5.00 donation will be requested.
