Wet Roadway Causes Crash on Route 948

car-accident-graphic-5254_jpg_475x310_q85-300x225HIGHLAND TOWNSHIP, Pa. (EYT) – According to Marienville-based State Police, around 10:15 p.m. on June 14, a one-car accident occurred on State Route 948, in Highland Township, Elk County.

Police say 20-year-old Leah S. McKay, of Brockway, was traveling west on SR 948. While negotiating a left curve, she lost control of her 2004 Chevrolet Malibu on the wet roadway.

The car slid sideways counterclockwise off the north side of the road and impacted a guide rail end with its right side. It came to rest facing south off the north side of SR 948, according to police.

McKay and her passenger, 21-year-old Miles R. Valchar, of New Kensington, were using seat belts and were not injured.

McKay was charged with a traffic violation.

Sheffield Volunteer Fire Department and EmergyCare Ambulance assisted at the scene.
