Police Seek Information on Hit and Run Crash on I-80 in Brookville Borough

BROOKVILLE, Pa. (EYT) – DuBois-based State Police are investigating a hit and run crash that occurred at the eastbound on-ramp at Exit 78, Interstate 80, in Brookville Borough, Jefferson County.

Police say the incident occurred around 1:00 p.m. on December 11 when an unidentified vehicle lost control on the snow-covered roadway and began to rotate clockwise. It traveled in a southeasterly direction across the eastbound berm where it struck a vehicle owned by 69-year-old Terry D. Ortiz, of Templeton.

The unidentified vehicle struck the driver’s side of Ortiz’ vehicle with its trailer’s driver’s side.

Ortz’ vehicle came to a final rest along the east side of the on-ramp facing northeast.

The unidentified vehicle traveled the wrong direction down the on-ramp and fled in an unknown direction upon reaching State Route 36.

The unidentified vehicle is described as a white extended cab or crew cab pickup truck pulling a black, 30 foot, v-nose, triangle box trailer. The trailer has possible damage to its driver’s side.
