YOUNG TWP., Pa. (EYT) – Punxsutawney-based State Police are searching for the driver of a vehicle involved in a hit-and-run crash on April 25 in Young Township, Jefferson County.

State Police say the accident happened around 6:45 p.m. when a vehicle, operated by an unknown individual, lost control while attempting to negotiate a right turn on Snyder Hill Road near Stake Drive.

Then, the driver attempted to steer the vehicle back onto the roadway but overcompensated again and the vehicle crossed over the opposite side of Snyder Hill Road.

At some point during the crash, the road sign became lodged under the vehicle.

The driver was eventually able to dislodge the sign before fleeing the scene, proceeding east on Snyder Hill Road.

Investigators believe the vehicle is a silver hatchback with front end damage.
