Punxsutawney Woman Escapes Injury in Route 36 Crash

Police car lightsBELL TOWNSHIP, Pa. (EYT) – Punxsutawney-based State Police responded to a one-vehicle accident on State Route 36, east of Pine Tree Road in Bell Township, Jefferson County.

State Police say around 3:30 p.m. on January 21, Jean R. Brown, 70, of Punxsutawney, was traveling south on SR 36 in a 2007 Buick Lucerne when she lost control while negotiating a left hand curve on the snow-covered roadway.

The Buick left the southbound lane and crossed over into the northbound lane while spinning counterclockwise. The vehicle then exited the western side of the roadway and made impact with a utility pole with the rear end of the vehicle where it came to a rest facing north.

The vehicle sustained major rear end damage and was towed from the scene by Groundhog Towing.

Brown was wearing a seat belt and was not injured.
