Punxsy Man Arrested for Punching Woman in the Face Waives Hearing

JEFFERSON CO., Pa. (EYT) – A Punxsutawney man waived his hearing on Tuesday on charges from an incident where he allegedly punched a woman in the face.

Court documents indicate the following charges against 21-year-old Patrick Allen Spiers were waived for court on Tuesday, April 13:

– Simple Assault, Misdemeanor 2
– Marijuana-Small Amount Personal Use, Misdemeanor
– Use/Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, Misdemeanor
– Harassment – Subject Other to Physical Contact, Summary

The charges have been transferred to the Jefferson County Court of Common Pleas.

Spiers is currently free on $25,000.00 unsecured bail.

Details of the case:

According to a criminal complaint, around 8:45 p.m. on Monday, March 22, Punxsutawney Borough Police received a call from a known man reporting that Patrick Spiers had just “beat the (expletive) out of” a known female victim. The caller reported he had been at the victim’s residence, and the victim had told him what happened, and then Spiers threw him out of the residence.

Police proceeded to the scene and knocked at the door of the residence.

Spiers answered the door, and the patrolman asked to speak to the victim. Spiers reported she was in the shower, and the officer said that he would wait for her to get out, according to the complaint.

When the victim came out from the bathroom, the officer immediately observed the right side of her face was swollen and puffy, the complaint notes.

According to the complaint, when asked what had happened, the victim first just said “Patrick,” and when further asked if he had hit her, she told the officer that Spiers punched her in the face with a closed fist.

Spiers was then taken into custody for domestic violence.

During a search incident to arrest, police found and seized a rolled-up marijuana joint in Spiers’ front shorts pocket, the complaint states.

Spiers was arraigned in front of Magisterial District Judge Jacqueline J. Mizerock at 11:30 p.m. on March 22.
