Punxsy Man Arrested for Sexually Assaulting 12-Year-Old Girl

HENDERSON TWP., Pa. (EYT) – A Punxsutawney man is facing felony charges on accusations of sexually assaulting a 12-year-old girl.

Court documents indicate the following charges were filed against 43-year-old Enos J. Hershberger, of Punxsutawney, on October 19:

– Statutory Sexual Assault, Felony 2 (five counts)
– Sexual Assault, Felony 2 (five counts)
– Incest, Felony 2 (five counts)
– Endangering Welfare of Children – Parent/Guardian/Other Commits Offense, Misdemeanor 1 (five counts)
– Indecent Assault Person Less 16 Years Age, Misdemeanor 2 (five counts)

The charges stem from an investigation into a report of sexual assault.

According to a criminal complaint, a victim reported that she was sexually abused by Enos J. Hershberger over a period of approximately four years, from 2008 to 2012, from when the victim was 12 to when she was 16.

According to the complaint, the abuse involved unwanted sexual intercourse at several residences in Henderson Township, Jefferson County. The victim also reported Hershberger used force, which included striking her across the face.

When Hershberger was interviewed, he admitted to having sexual intercourse with the victim at least five times from the time the victim was approximately 13 years old over the following three to six months, according to the complaint.

Hershberger was arraigned in front of Magisterial District Judge David B. Inzana at 7:00 p.m. on October 19.

Unable to post $60,000.00 (10%) monetary bail, he was lodged in the Jefferson County Jail.

He was released on October 21 on a private surety.
