Punxsy Woman Falls Asleep at Wheel, Crashes into Tree on Route 66

Police car lightsFOREST CO., Pa. (EYT) – Marienville-based State Police say a one-vehicle accident occurred on State Route 66, in Jenks Township, Forest County.

According to police, around 8:14 a.m. on December 31, 68-year-old Vicki D. Drake, of Punxsutawney, was traveling south on State Route 66 and fell asleep. Her 2012 Chevrolet Equinox traveled off the right side of the roadway and impacted a ditch.

Police say the vehicle continued south off the roadway and impacted a tree with its front end. The vehicle came to a rest off the right side of the roadway against the tree facing south.

Drake suffered minor injuries.

She was using a seat belt.
