R. Fred Yount

R. Fred Yount, 74, of Punxsutawney, died Tuesday, May 19, 2015, at home.

He was born July 17, 1940, in Timblin, a son of the late Harry A. and Dorothy Ann (Martz) Yount.

On March 5, 1960, he married the former Jean Hobba. She survives.

Mr. Yount worked for Herb & Tom’s Store in DuBois as a meat manager and store manager. He also had a meat cutting shop and processed many deer over the years. He had also previously worked as a machinist at Rockwell.

His enjoyment was carving wooden ducks, birds and canes. He had a particular love of boats and enjoyed fishing. He and his wife, Jean, enjoyed camping and traveling with the family poodle, “Taffy.”

In addition to his wife, he is survived by two daughters, Diane L. Bracken and husband James of Tucson, Arizona and Debra J. Kendall and husband Kirby of Reynoldsville; two grandchildren, Heather and Cory Kendall; and a brother, Keith Yount and wife Norma of Tucson, Arizona.

A private memorial service will be held at the convenience of the family.
