R. Lynn Bennett

R. Lynn Bennett, 67, of Rossiter, died Saturday, December 13, 2014, at home.

He was born December 20, 1946, in Punxsutawney, a son of Avanell E. (Humble) and the late Robert E. Bennett.

He was a member of the Punxsutawney Presbyterian Church where he served as an Elder.

He was a former employee of Loree Footwear, Penn DOT, and IUP Housekeeping.

Lynn was a former Republican Committee Man of Canoe Township for 24 years, a former member on the Executive Board for the Republican Party of Indiana County, an Alternate Delegate for the Republican Convention in 1988 in New Orleans, a former Auditor for Canoe Township in Indiana County, and a former Chair of the Bloodmobile where he donated over 13 gallons of blood over the years.

In addition to his mother, surviving relatives include two sisters, Deborah Lunger and husband Rudy of Rossiter and Patricia Bennett of Chambersburg; a nephew Christopher Flick and wife Kyleen and their children Cole and Riley of Maryland; and a niece Carrie Munro and husband Allen of Brookville.

In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Lee “Buck” and Helena (Blose) Humble, and his paternal grandparents, Perry and Margaret (Shields) Bennett.

Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m., Monday, December 15, 2014, at the Deeley Funeral Home, Punxsutawney.

A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m., Tuesday, December 16, 2014, at the funeral home, with Reverend Brett Swanson officiating.

Interment will be in Union Cemetery, Rossiter.

Memorials may be made, in Mr. Bennett’s name, to the Charity of the Donor’s Choice.
