Registration Open for ‘Wellness Week’ at Sawmill Center for the Arts

SawmillCOOKSBURG, Pa. – Wellness Week will be held from August 9 to August 13 at the Sawmill Center for the Arts in Cooksburg, Pa.

Sessions will be held daily from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m.

From Acupuncture to Tai Chi, various sessions will be held throughout the week addressing a variety of health and wellness topics for children and adults.

Adult sessions will cost $10.00; children’s sessions are free of charge.

Please register by calling the Sawmill Center for the Arts at 814-927-6655 by August 5.

Adult sessions include:

  • Tuesday, August 9 – Kathleen Ellwood (Personal Coach) will lead a self-help discussion on “Finding Work-Life Flow and Finding Your Passion.”
  • Wednesday, August 10 – Joseph Croskey (Trainer/Consultant) will direct a class on “Everyday Mindfulness.” Participants will be learn to live and breathe “in the now” – being present.
  • Thursday, August 11 – Kristy Droske (Fitness Specialist) will lead a class in “Physical Activity for Self.” She will teach participants ways to stretch and condition what their present self can do.
  • Friday, August 12 – Vince Ganoe (Licensed Acupuncturist) will teach participants the ways acupuncturists can help with ordinary health conditions.
  • Also on Friday, August 12 – Tasana (Master Musician and Drummer) will perform and teach “Drumming Up Good Health” for adults. The cost for this session will be $18; drums will be provided to participants.
  • Saturday, August 13 – Liza Say (RN & Nutritionist) will present participants with up-to-date information on the new and best ways to maintain a healthy mind, body, and spirit.

All presenters are registered and licensed in their specialties and are available for workshops, lectures, and private appointments.

Children’s sessions include:

  • Tuesday, August 9 – J.J. Johnston (retired school superintendent) will show and tell the history of the Native American talking stick.
  • Wednesday, August 10 – Dale Luthringer (Environmental Education Specialist for Cook Forest State Park) will talk about owls and their habitat in Cook Forest.
  • Thursday, August 11 – Phyllis Morrow (retired teacher) will teach cursive writing. Each child will learn how to write his or her name in cursive.
  • Friday, August 12 – Tasana (Master Musician & Drummer) will teach a drumming class, a healthy way to have fun. You don’t have to be a musician to attend this class. All sounds and smiles make each drum circle special.
  • Saturday, August 13 – Boy Scout Troop #51 Clarion will teach children how to tie safety knots and basic first-aid techniques.
