Reverend Ned Eugene Burkett, 86, of DuBois, PA, passed away on November 30, 2022, while a patient at Penn Highlands DuBois Hospital.
He was born on December 18, 1935, to the late Reverend Harry and Helen (Deshner) Burkett in Mayburg, PA.
Ned graduated from DuBois High School with the class of 1954, he went on to earn a degree from Roberts Wesleyan College in 1956.
He proudly served his country with the US Army and was stationed in Germany for several years.
Ned married Ella Mae Green on August 27, 1960, in Fulton, NY; Ella survives him.
Reverend Ned pastored following free Methodist churches from 1965 to 1997 in Sugar Grove, Warren, Fleming, Philipsburg, and DuBois.
Ned loved the outdoors and enjoyed hunting, fishing, and farm work.
He was an exceptionally social person who loved to visit with others and bring laughs to every conversation.
Every stranger he met parted ways as a friend.
Above all else, Ned loved to teach the word of God and tend to his flock.
Ned especially loved speaking the Gospel to the lost. He will be dearly missed by his family and community.
In addition to his wife, Ned is survived by two children; Dale (Penny) Burkett; Darlene (Matthew) Gildersleeve; four grandchildren; Cale; Asher; Rachel; Ryan; and one brother; Bruce Burkett.
In addition to his parents, Ned was preceded in passing by one daughter; Marcia Burkett.
Family and friends will be received on Sunday, December 4, 2022, from 2pm to 4pm at the McKinney – d’Argy Funeral Home, 345 Main Street, Brookville, PA 15825.
A second visitation will take place on Monday, December 5, 2022, from 10am to 10:45am at the Calvary Church of the Nazarene, 110 Evans St., Brookville, PA 15825.
A funeral service will take place immediately following the second visitation, beginning at 11am and officiated by Pastor Randy Hall.
Interment will take place at Mt. Tabor Cemetery, Eldred Twp., Jefferson Co., PA.
Memorial contributions may be made in his name to the Calvary Church of the Nazarene.
