The Curve (3-2) took the opener of the three-game set against the Flying Squirrels (2-3).

Reyes doubled off of Christian Jones (Loss, 0-1) and brought home Wyatt Mathisen, who beat a throw to the plate from Richmond left fielder Carlos Garcia.

Montana DuRapau (Win, 1-0) stranded the potential tying run at third base to finish the game.

Richmond threatened to take the lead in the bottom of the ninth, but reliever Buddy Borden struck out Tyler Horan to send the game into extra innings.

After a double to start the game by Kevin Newman, Edwin Espinal singled to bring the first run of the game across in the first inning.

Richmond answered in the bottom of the inning with an RBI double by Chris Shaw to even the score.

Altoona starter Tanner Anderson allowed one run on five hits over five innings in his Double-A debut.

Curve reliever Tate Scioneaux worked through the sixth and seventh without allowing a run, while Borden fought through three scoreless innings of his own.

The Curve continue the series on Tuesday night at The Diamond. Right-hander Yeudy Garcia is scheduled to make his Double-A debut, countered by Richmond right-hander Jordan Johnson. First pitch is scheduled for 6:35 p.m.
