Reynoldsville Couple Faces Charges Following Domestic Dispute

REYNOLDSVILLE, Pa. (EYT) — Assault charges have been filed against a Reynoldsville couple following a domestic dispute in Reynoldsville Borough.

Court documents indicate DuBois-based State Police filed criminal charges against 29-year-old Jacob Malvin Yohe and 19-year-old Shantell Deserea Neiswonger, both of Reynoldsville, in District Judge David B. Inzana’s office on April 6.

According to a criminal complaint, PSP DuBois troopers were dispatched around 9:00 a.m. on Saturday, April 6 to a residence in the 300 block of Ann Street in Reynoldsville Borough, Jefferson County, for a reported assault.

Upon arrival, troopers interviewed Shanell Neiswonger, who reported she was arguing with Jacob Yohe regarding children in the home throwing toys on the other side of a dog gate. Neiswonger explained Yohe struck the dog before she told him she would “smack his kids for not listening,” the complaint states.

Neiswonger then said Yohe bumped her into the gate, so she pushed him. She then went into the bedroom, and Yohe started choking her, the complaint indicates.

Neiswonger said she then punched the TV as Yohe started to grab hold of her with his arm around her neck to stop her. She said  Yohe began to spit in her face and threw pop on her shirt. She went on to state she started to hit the thermostat multiple times, breaking it, the complaint notes.

Neiswonger had a “marking” on her neck, according to the complaint.

Police then interviewed Yohe, who stated he and Neiswonger were arguing about the kids and the dogs. He explained Neiswonger began punching him in the head multiple times, causing marks on his face, the complaint states.

Yohe claimed he grabbed ahold of Neiswonger to stop her from hitting him and breaking items in the house. He then said the TV was punched and his thermostat was broken, causing the heat to no longer work, the complaint indicates.

Yohe then told police he contacted Neiswonger’s mom to come get her because he did not want her at the residence, the complaint notes.

Both individuals were arraigned on April 6 on the following charges in front of District Judge Jacqueline Mizerock:

– Simple Assault, Misdemeanor 2
– Harassment – Subject Other to Physical Contact, Summary

Yohe was released after posting $500.00 of a $5,000.00 bail through a private surety.

Neiswonger is also free after posting $5,000.00 through a professional bondsman.

Preliminary hearings are scheduled for May 14, at 12:15 p.m. with Judge Inzana presiding.
