Reynoldsville Man Accused of Stealing Shingles from Punxsy Business

PUNXSUTAWNEY BOROUGH, Pa. (EYT) – Charges have been filed against a Reynoldsville man who is accused of stealing shingles from a business in Punxsutawney.

Court documents indicate the Punxsutawney Borough Police Department filed criminal charges against 52-year-old Leonard J. Riccardo Jr.

According to a criminal complaint, on July 23, Punxsutawney Borough Police were dispatched to a report of a theft at a location on Martha Street.

The victim indicated Leonard J. Riccardo Jr. had taken two square roof shingles, valued at $200.00, without paying for them.

The victim told police Riccardo had come into his business on July 22 and told an employee he wanted the shingles and would be going inside to purchase other items.

The victim also provided police with video surveillance footage of Riccardo entering the store and making no attempt to pay for the shingles, the complaint notes.

According to the complaint, the victim also attempted to contact Riccardo by phone but was unsuccessful.

The following charges were filed against Riccardo through Magisterial District Judge Jacqueline J. Mizerock’s office on July 27:

– Theft by Unlawful Taking-Movable Property, Misdemeanor 1
– Theft by Deception-False Impression, Misdemeanor 1
– Retail Theft-Take Merchandise, Misdemeanor 1 (six counts)

A preliminary hearing is scheduled for 10:15 a.m. on August 12, with Judge Mizerock presiding.
