Reynoldsville Man Injured in Route 322 Crash

WINSLOW TWP., Pa. (EYT) – Police say a Reynoldsville man was injured in a crash that occurred early Thursday morning on US 322.

According to DuBois-based State Police, the accident happened around 3:22 a.m. on Thursday, June 17. on US 322, just west of Reynoldsville Sykesville Road, in Winslow Township, Jefferson County.

Police say 26-year-old Devin D. Cathcart, of DuBois, was operating a 2014 Dodge RAM 1500, traveling east on US 322 when a deer ran into the road. Cathcart attempted to avoid the deer by driving off the eastbound lane and subsequently struck an embankment along the berm of the roadway with the passenger door. The vehicle then spun 180 degrees, traveled approximately 30 feet further east, and came to a final rest facing west on the eastbound berm.

Cathcart and his passenger, identified as 29-year-old Matthew A. Nelson, of Reynoldsville, were not using seat belts.

Nelson suffered suspected minor injuries and was transported to Penn Highlands DuBois Hospital by a family member.

Cathcart was not injured.

The vehicle sustained disabling damage to the passenger side and front end. It was towed from the scene by Auto Undertaker.

The eastbound lane of US 322 was temporarily closed for a short time, according to police.

Cathcart was cited for a traffic violation.
