Richard Leroy Geist, 60, of Strattanville died unexpectedly Saturday, November 5, 2016 at his home.
Born June 6, 1956 in Jamestown, NY, he was the son of the late Harold E. Geist Sr. and Alberta Mae (Spare) Reed of Brookville.
Mr. Geist attended both Brookville and Clarion-Limestone schools.
Mr. Geist worked as a truck driver for Ram Transit Lines and Nowsco Well Services. He was a former member of both the Brookville Firemen’s Club and the Brookville Eagles.
He was a musician, playing bass guitar, and a member of the American Home Grown Band and JC Ramblers Band. Other interests included the Pittsburgh Steelers, hunting, Harley Davidson
Motorcycles, guns, fishing, cars, and his boys. He loved being outdoors, driving back roads, and going to the Clarion River.
He was formerly married to Nancy A. Leach Geist; she survives.
Also surviving are his three sons, Richard “Matthew” Geist and his wife Carrie of Erie, William A. Geist of Strattanville, and Jeremy D. Geist of Strattanville.
In addition to his former wife and children, Mr. Geist is survived by three brothers, Ronald Geist and Shelley of Mayport, Robert Reed of Strattanville, and David Reed of Strattanville; four sisters, Carol Guerra and Greg of Clarion, Cathy Simpson and William of Strattanville, Mary Blachier and James of Strattanville, and Dot Bush and David of Summerville; two grandchildren, Joel and Elliot of Erie; and numerous nieces, nephews, and friends.
Along with his father, he is preceded in death by a brother, Harold Geist Jr.
A visitation will be held from 1-3 PM and 5-8 PM on Tuesday, November 8, 2016 at the Furlong Funeral Home, Gregory Furlong FD, corner of Broad St. and First Ave. in Summerville, PA. A memorial service will be held at 11 AM on Saturday, November 12, 2016 at the Corsica Fire Hall. A Celebration of Life will also be held at the Corsica Fire Hall on November 12, 2016 starting at 3 PM.
The family suggests that memorial donations be made to the Corsica Volunteer Fire Company.
