Ritchie Captures Democratic Bid for 63rd District State House Seat; Bashline Wins GOP Nomination

ARMSTRONG/CLARION COUNTIES, Pa. (EYT) – Unofficial results from Tuesday’s primary election show that Pat Ritchie (D) and Josh Bashline (R) have secured nominations in their respective parties for the 63rd Legislative District seat in the Pennsylvania House of Representatives.

According to unofficial combined results posted by Armstrong and Clarion counties on Tuesday night, Ritchie tallied a total of 2,583 votes in Tuesday’s Primary Election. She ran unopposed.

Bashline tallied a total of 3191 votes edging out fellow republicans Darlene Smail (2808), Lisa Kerle (2473), and Clay Kennemuth (1559).

The 63rd district includes all of Clarion County and parts of Armstrong County.

Ritchie, originally from Pocono Lake, Pennsylvania, graduated from Pocono Mountain West High School in 2019 and then moved to Clarion for Clarion University’s Library Science program.

Ritchie founded Clarion Carrier LLC. in December 2021 after discovering a “lack of viable transportation options for a huge percentage of the residents of Clarion County,” according to the campaign website.

Bashline, a Clarion Township resident, is a current member of the Pennsylvania National Guard and has served for the past 10 years. Before his announcement, he was working for the Pennsylvania House of Representatives as a District Manager for State Representative Parke Wentling.

Representative Donna Oberlander (R), who currently holds the seat, announced in December that she would not seek re-election.
