Robert Donald Petroff

Robert Donald Petroff, 91, of Punxsutawney, passed away on May 28, 2022.

He was born on February 7, 1931, in Punxsutawney the son of the late Michael and Julie (Jurcenko) Petroff.

On October 1, 1955, he married Marcella Anna (Charcalla) Petroff, who survives.

Mr. Petroff was decorated for his service in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict.

Robert retired from General Motors after 31 years of service as a skilled trade tool and die maker.

He was a member of Saints Cosmas and Damian Roman Catholic Church.

He was a devoted Catholic.

He was also a member of the Punxsutawney Eagles, VFW, DAV and the Byzantine Men’s Club.

Robert was an avid golfer and outdoorsmen.

He also enjoyed watching all sports, especially the Steelers and Pirates.

He also enjoyed hunting, gardening, and cooking.

Bob will be remembered for his great sense of humor, enthusiasm for life and love of sports.

He was a wonderful husband, father and a great man.

He was a loving, caring person, he enjoyed helping others.

He will be deeply missed by family and friends.

May he rest in peace.

He is survived by his loving wife of sixty-six years, Marcella; three children: son Brian Petroff of Grand Blanc, MI; two daughter’s Peggy Johnson and husband Eric of Holton, MI and Patricia Kingston and husband Steve of Tucson, Arizona; one brother, Carl Petroff of Punxsutawney; in-laws Jane Hetrick and Janice and Bruno Brabessi and numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, Robert was preceded in death by his nine siblings: Mary Kopas, Helen Kachur, John Petroff, Julia Gigliotti, George Petroff, Marge Havrilla, Andrew Petroff, Patty Gloss and Michael Petroff.

The family will receive friends from 9-10am on Saturday, June 4, 2022, at Shumaker Funeral Home, Inc.

Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11am on Saturday, June 4 at Saints Cosmas and Damian Roman Catholic Church with Monsignor Joseph Riccardo as celebrant.

Arrangements have been entrusted to Shumaker Funeral Home, Inc. Punxsutawney.
