Robert Leroy Smith

Robert Leroy Smith, 84, of Sprankle Mills PA, died Saturday, December 18, 2021, of a massive stroke.

Known as “Bob” or “Smitty” to some, he was a bear of a man, with his growl being a hearty laugh.

He was born on August 2, 1937, undeniably under a lucky star.

Even near death, he was able to win a few extra days and spend them with his beloved wife of 63 years, Shirley (Reitz). They were married in Hormtown, PA, on April 19, 1958.

Shirley and their three children were by his side at his death and throughout his life.

Bob is survived by his wife, and RS Gas business partner, Shirley.

He is also survived by his daughter Karen Sulkosky and her family, his son Richard and his family, his daughter Beth Powell and her family, his brother H. Andrew Smith and his sister Georgiann Geist.

Bob was the seventh of eight children, born to the late Reed and Elizabeth (Caylor) Smith.

In life, Bob had uncanny and enviable luck winning raffles, slot machines, and scratch-off tickets.

Bob enjoyed trips to the casino and going to auctions, as well as farming, hunting, and being outdoors.

He especially enjoyed laughing and telling stories with his friends and family, which now includes two great-grandchildren and neighborhood dog Chip.

To honor Bob, please laugh a lot, try your luck at the slots, and live your life to the fullest.

A private memorial service will be held at a future date for friends and family.

Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to the McKinney – d’Argy Funeral Home, 345 Main Street, Brookville, PA 15825.
