Robert M. Gunter, 84, DuBois, passed away Saturday, April 23, 2022 at his home.
Born May 3, 1937, in Philipsburg, he was the son of the late Max and Mary (Baranchak) Gunter.
On April 20, 1957, he married Gale (Huston) Gunter in Morrisdale, PA. She survives.
Robert graduated from Philipsburg High School.
He was employed by U.S. Airways for 35 years as an in-flight service manager.
After his retirement from U.S. Airways, he worked for Sam’s Club and 84 Lumber.
He helped open the DuBois-Jefferson County Airport in 1959.
Robert was a past Master of Masonic Lodge #674, past Exalted Ruler of BPOE #1090, and former High Priest of Royal Arch Chapter #300.
He was a member of the Blue Lodge, the Moose Club in Grassflat, and the Church of Our Savior in DuBois.
Robert enjoyed golfing, being on the beach, traveling, and spending time with his family.
In addition to his wife, Robert is survived by three children, Robert W. (Elizabeth) Gunter, Titusville, Florida, Gwili (David) Zakutney, Frankfort Springs, PA, and Colleen (Richard) Pickens, Moon Township, PA; eight grandchildren, Robert Gunter II, Ronna Scott, David Jr. and Samuel Zakutney, James and Joseph Pickens, Robert Mele, and Linda Cusma, and thirteen great-grandchildren.
He was the last surviving member of his immediate family.
Robert was preceded in death by his parents, his grandson, John Zakutney, and his brother, William Gunter.
Friends and family will be received Wednesday, April 27th from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. and Thursday, April 28th from 10-11 a.m. from the Adamson Funeral Chapel and Crematorium.
A Masonic Service will be held Wednesday at 5:45 p.m. Following Thursday’s visitation, a funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. from the funeral chapel with Rev. Bob McKay officiating.
Interment will be in Messiah Baptist Cemetery in Kylertown, PA.
