Sara Ann Kelly Witherite

Sara Ann Kelly Witherite died peacefully after a short illness July 17, 2015 amongst the love of her family.

Affectionately known as “Chuckie” she was born February 2, 1935 in DuBois, PA, the oldest of four children to Sarah and John Kelly. She graduated from St. Catherine’s High School in 1952.

She married the love of her life, James Witherite, Sr., April 11, 1953 and shared their life and love with their eight natural children that multiplied by two: James, Jr. and Rita; Marla and Ernie Larson; Mark and Rhonda; Richard and Kelly; Jeanne and Ronald Stahlman; Lisa and David Witherite-Rieg; John and Lisa; and Susan and Michael Weisner. Twenty five grandchildren and twenty three great grandchildren complete their legacy.

Grandma Chuckie’s greatest joy was spending time with her family at their Sykesville home, “THE WITHERITE CENTRE”.

A fifteen year breast cancer survivor, Sara operated a successful income tax preparation service for over 40 years. She enjoyed her wine, crossword puzzles, watching Jeopardy! and Fox News. She never missed the annual Atlantic City girls’ bus trip.

In addition to her husband and children, she is survived by her sister, Carol Jean Mehok and husband, Robert; brother, John “Jack” Kelly and his wife, Beryl; and sister in law, Carol Kelly. In addition, her “adopted” daughters, Gay Flanders and Janet Mehok, were very dear to her heart.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her step-father, Stanley Passierb; a brother, Leroy “Coke” Kelly; and an infant grandchild.

Family and friends will be received at the Goble Baronick Funeral Home, DuBois, PA Sunday, July 19, 2015 from 2 P.M. to 6 P.M.

A mass of Christian burial will be celebrated Monday, July 20, 2015 at 11 A.M. by Reverend Richard C. Tomasone at the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary Church in Sykesville.

Although flowers are appreciated, the family asks that donations be made to the DuBois Catholic Schools at P.O. Box 567, DuBois, PA 15801 and/or the charity of the donor’s choice.
