Second Annual ‘All Things Peanut Butter’ Cook-Off Set for September 17

peanutbutter-pretzelsNEW BETHLEHEM, Pa. (EYT) – The second annual “All Things Peanut Butter” Cook-Off during the New Bethlehem Peanut Butter Festival is scheduled for Saturday, September 17.

Registration is from 9:00 a.m. to 9:45 a.m. in the basement of the Moose Lodge in New Bethlehem.

There will be prizes for first place in each category as follows:

  • Appetizers
  • Candy
  • Cookies/Bars
  • Main Dish
  • Cakes/Pies/Cupcakes
  • Other/Miscellaneous

There will be one grand prize for best overall.

Rules and Regulations:

1. Recipe must use at least 1/2 cup of peanut butter (any brand).
2. Entries must include recipes.
3. Entrants must use disposable containers. (No containers will be returned.)
4. Cookies/Bars – seven pieces to a plate.
5. One entry per category per contestant.

Disqualification will be warranted if any of the above rules and regulations are not followed. Judges have final decision.

Entries will be judged on the following criteria:

  • Appearance
  • Presentation
  • Taste
  • Texture

There is no entry fee.

Judging will begin at approximately 10:00 a.m. This is closed to the public.

Winners will be announced and awards given out at noon on the stage at Gumtown Park.

All baked good entries will be auctioned off/sold at the Cook-Off Auction/Sale at the stage following the award presentation. All proceeds benefit the festival.

A jar of peanut butter will be available the week of September 12 at the Chamber Office/Jewelry Shop, on Broad Street, New Bethlehem, for any contestant wanting peanut butter for use in their entries. One jar per contestant.
