UNION TOWNSHIP, Pa. (EYT) – According to DuBois-based State Police, around 8:52 p.m. on May 2, a one-vehicle accident occurred on Interstate 80 eastbound, at the 107.8 mile marker, in Union Township, Clearfield County.

Police say 34-year-old Timothy A. Leonardi, of Arlington, VA, was traveling east in the right lane when he encountered several deer running onto the roadway traveling northbound.

Leonardi’s 2005 Subaru Outback impacted the last deer with the left front. The vehicle continued traveling eastbound before crossing the white center line, the left lane, and left fog line, according to police.

The vehicle traveled onto the embankment where it overturned, traveling north down the embankment, police say.

The vehicle came to a final rest on its wheels in the wooded median, facing a northerly direction.

Leonardi suffered minor injuries.

He was using a seat belt.
