Sherry Jean Stinebiser

Sherry Jean Stinebiser, 70, of Marienville passed away peacefully on August 20, 2019, in the comfort of her home with her loving family by her side. 

Sherry was born at Kane Community Hospital on February 10, 1949. She was the daughter of the late Frank and Evelyn (Caldwell) Payne. 
         
Sherry was the past Department President of the Ladies Auxiliary to the Veteran’s of Foreign Wars of the United States at the 87th Department Convention. Sherry was a life member of Cleo Bargerstock Auxiliary 1424. Sherry served as the Auxiliary President, District President, Auxiliary Secretary, Auxiliary Treasurer, Department Guard, Department Conductress, Department Chaplain, Department Junior Vice President, Department Senior Vice President. She also served as Department Western Area Chairman for the buddy poppy and legislative programs. She was also Extraordinary Eucharistic Minister at St. Ann’s church.
         
Sherry was a graduate of the nursing program at the Community College of Beaver County in Monaca, Pennsylvania, and she worked 30 years as a Licensed Practical Nurse in the field of geriatrics. Most currently, Sherry was employed by Warrior Run Development Corporation in Turbotville as high rise manager. 
         
Sherry volunteered in her community for 2 years as an Emergency Medical Technician and served nine years as a Girl Scout Leader. Sherry was a member of Saint  Ann’s Catholic Church in Marienville, Saint Ann’s Women’s Group, and Marienville Area Civic Association. Sherry was a past Girl Scout and 4H member, and she served on the Board of Experience Incorporated for Warren and Forest Counties. 
         
In addition to her husband, Donald Stinebiser of 23 years, Sherry is survived by her son Dan Nogel of Clarion, her son and daughter in law Todd and Tammi Nogel of Crown, and her daughter and son in law Sheila and Bob Clever of Smithfield, NC, and seven step-children; her sister, Martha Brewster, her brother and sister in law, Frank and Grace Payne; her grandchildren Daisy, Cassie, Autum, Tyler, Devin, Connor, Jonah, and Carter; great-grandchildren Mikayla, Jaliyah, Alijah, Lindsey, Hunter, and Tucker, 11 step-grandchildren and five step-great-grandchildren as well as a number of nieces, nephews, and cousins.
          
Sherry was preceded in death by her parents Frank and Evelyn Payne, her sister and brother in law Dorothy “Dot” and Howard “Herk” Staub, her niece Doreen Staub, her brother in law Raymond Brewster, and her nephew Charles “Chuck” Payne.
         
Friends will be received on Friday, August 23, 2019 from 2:00 to 4:00 pm and 7:00 to 9:00 pm and Saturday August 24, 2019 from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. and 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. at the Furlong Funeral Home, 140 Cherry Street, Marienville, PA. On Friday, August 23, 2019, at 7:30 p.m. a service will be held by the VFW Auxiliary Post #1424  and on Saturday, August 24, 2019, at 7:30 p.m. a rosary service, both will be held at Furlong Funeral Home. 
         
A mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday, August 26, 2019, at 11:00 a.m. at St. Ann’s Catholic Church in Marienville with Rev. Christopher Barnes, pastor as celebrant. A private interment and graveside committal service will follow in the St. Ann’s Cemetery, Jenks Twp., Forest County, PA.
         
Memorial contributions in Sherry’s memory may be made to Clarion-Forest VNA Hospice or St. Ann’s Catholic Church.
